Obviously keen to see his riders make the colours of the Groupama-FDJ on this 111th edition of the Big loopthe Mayennais explained that his training was going to approach this in a different way. “In recent years, we have been quite used to having an extremely classic structure, with a leader for the general classification and the number one objective of staying in contact with the main favorites of the Tour de France. But this year, we want to move our lines a little”declares Marc Madiot.

Marc Madiot imagines “a race plan that somewhat resembles that of the Giro d’Italia”
“Why this change? We have a squad that allows us to be operational on quite a few terrains, and it would therefore be a shame to deprive ourselves of interesting sporting options with the riders we have. Given the configuration of the Tour, which can take a fairly definitive turn from the first stages, we say to ourselves that we could have a race plan which somewhat resembles that of the Tour of Italy, with a fairly unbridled race and which offered quite a few opportunities for go for stages and closers in the general.”
