He had been devastated by the great fire of La Teste-de-Buch, during the summer of 2022, which had ravaged his campsite, like others located at the foot of the Pilat dune. Former Olympique de and Les Bleus player Mathieu Valbuena, a Girondist by birth, has no longer been the owner of Pyla Camping, on the Arcachon basin, since this summer, which he had owned for around ten years with ex-rugby player Stéphane Varella.

The Vendée group MS Vacances announced on social networks that it had acquired the establishment. “With its experience of more than 20 years, MS Vacances is committed to restoring Camping MS Le Pyla to all its glory, while respecting its environment and its history. Significant work has started to restore this place and give it back all the splendor it deserves,” indicates the group.

Purchased for 6.7 million euros in 2013

According to South West who revealed the transaction, the deal was reportedly finalized in early summer. It thus marks an end to the conflict which opposed the two owners since 2018, and who had faced each other in court. According to the regional daily, they acquired the site in 2013 for 6.7 million euros.

The campsite, now renamed Le Pyla, welcomes among the new features a relaxation area with sauna, hammam, a children’s club, padel tennis, a fitness room, while the restaurant has been renovated and offers a roof terrace.
