Two sisters-in-law originating from Valves and of Senna (Morbihan), Anne-Claire Le Garrec and Charlène Courtel, left for Cambodia Tuesday November 19th 2024. There, they will participate in the all-female sporting challengethe Amazon Raid. Their team, the Raid de Cœur, in homage to the association, Petit Cœur de Beurre, which they support.
The Amazon Raid, what is it?
This is the first 100% female raid which was founded in 2001 by Alexandre Debannes.
This year, the raid will provide sporting challenges for 240 participants came from all over France. During six daysin teams of two or three people, they will participate in sporting events such as canoeing, cycling, running or even archery before the legendary treasure hunt in the temples of Angkor.
Beyond the sporting event, the participants will experience a human adventure and will meet the local populations.
A personal and sporting challenge
For Charlène, aged 36, and Anne-Claire, aged 40, it was thanks to a friend that she discovered the Amazon Raid.
Seduced through the event, they begin to challenge to participate. One “cap or no cap later”, they sign up for the raid before looking for financial partners to support them and then begin training.
Before training, we participated in 10 km trails around our home. During our training, we notably trained in archery at the Richemont Archers in Vannes with Marcel and Martial. The raid unites a lot. For example, Marcel and Martial trained us for free.
On the program of these six mornings of sporting eventseverything will begin on Sunday November 24, 2024 for Anne-Claire and Charlène.
On the program, 15 km of trail in Siem Reap, a city located in the north of the country, where the Raid will take place. Monday morning, November 25, 2024, will be devoted to a course of 15 km by canoe.
The level will rise to a crescendo with the run&bike event on Tuesday November 26, 2024 with 21.5 km of running for one and cycling for the other. Thursday November 28, 2024 will be devoted to a course of 33.3 km by mountain bike before finishing this raid on Friday November 29, 2024 with a 10 km trail.
A united and human adventure
The Amazon Raid is also a solidarity event. Anne-Claire and Charlène decided to go above and beyond for the association Little Butter Heart. An association which aims to support parents whose children suffer from congenital heart disease.
In our circle, Nathan, a little boy, was born with a heart defect. He received a lot of support from the association, Petit Cœur de Beurre. It was actually my cousin, a pediatric cardiac surgeon who operated on Nathan.
This raid, the Morbihan sisters-in-law wish to make it above all a human adventure. surpass yourself through sporting challenges, but also go meeting local populationswhich they intend to support once there.
