This Saturday, November 16, the Parisian football club PSG brought together more than 2,500 precarious students for a solidarity canteen, the largest distribution in France, reports the Parisian . Organized by the foundation «PSG for communities» and the Linkee association, its founder Julien Meimon described this event as “extraordinary tour de force”.
Since 2000, the PSG foundation has helped children and young people who are disadvantaged, sick or in difficulty. Club athletes such as Gonçalo Ramos and Griedge Mbock, footballers, and Alexis Mathieu judoka, took part in various events. “Our area of concern with PSG communities is young people, only young people. We are lucky to have players, whatever the discipline, who are always very sensitive to the causes we defend. says Fabien Allègre, deputy director of the Paris Saint Germain Foundation.
300,000 young people helped since its creation
At the beginning of October, the foundation revealed the 4 systems that will be put in place for the 2024/2025 season. The club’s solidarity canteen will be back in March and will help 8,000 young people, double the number since the program was created in 2021.
The foundation also works alongside young girls aged 11 to 16 living in disadvantaged neighborhoods in the Paris region, with its campaign “Come on girls!” whose aim is to teach “to the benefits and practice of sport”. 75 young girls from Poissy, Colombes, Vitry-sur-Seine will participate in these activities. Another device entitled, “Our legend”allows autistic and neurotypical children to play football. This season, the club foundation will open a new structure at Necker hospital to help sick children aged 7 to 11.
Throughout the year, PSG organizes 450 solidarity operations. Since its creation in 2000, more than 300,000 children and young people have been helped by «PSG for communities». Each year, the Parisian club raises funds during its Gala for its various campaigns.
