Before the big job dating Republican Chronicle, Thursday November 21 in Fougeres (Ille-et-Vilaine)interview with Jean-Michel Galle, president of the delegation of Fougères-Vitré at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry'Ille-et-Vilaine.
How has economic activity been doing in recent months in the country of Fougères?
Despite economic conditions which are perhaps less favorable than they have been in a certain number of professions, there are still recruitment difficulties. Which means that today, the need for recruitment is still there in many companies, quite simply because there are still positions becoming available through the age pyramid. We always have people who retire every year and who need to be replaced.
Indeed, the economic situation is a little more hazardous. We're a little more in the fog, clearly. This calls on business leaders to be at least cautious in their recruitment with regard to a mass of work which, depending on the industry, varies greatly. We have companies in Fougères which are in sectors which are still growing or which are generally in development, such as Zeiss or Safran.
Business leaders remain optimistic?
A business leader, by definition, is optimistic. Now, sometimes he is optimistic in the shorter term, or in the medium term or in the long term. In the medium to long term, we immediately think about what happens after the crisis: we must not forget that we must be ready for when things start again. Business leaders are forced to look much further ahead than six months, a year, eighteen months. And, thereby, fuel their recruitment.
This is often a speech that I hear and say. When there is a competent employee knocking on your door, even if you have less work, it is rare that the business manager does not ask himself the question of saying: “despite everything, is this not Isn't it worth it for me to hire him with my back because I would be very happy to have this person when the business picks up? “. This is why the job market is much less binary than that. Now job offers are clearly down.
How is the construction sector doing?
Today, we have quite a few projects that are stopped, frozen, postponed for various reasons. All this volume of work, it doesn't come out. Plus the failures of certain companies which block construction sites: you had to be on a construction site, except that the company which came before you failed and, by the time it starts again, you take three, six, nine months in sight…
But, I want to say it, for motivated people, those who want to go, who have projects, those who are ready to train, to change path, there will always be room for these people. Whoever the business leader is, he or she looks for motivated people, people who come to enjoy their work. And today, we have fun at work.
What levers could be activated in the coming years to find a slightly more favorable outlook?
Already our government sets somewhat stable rules for us. Today, the entrepreneur needs vision, to know in which environment he will work. When at a moment, one day it's white, one day it's black, one day we provide help for such and such… We have to have something established, lasting. Today, we have the impression that we have a lot of decisions taken in reaction to phenomena that are happening, not proactive in planning ahead.
