Coach of ASSE between December 2021 and June 2022, Pascal Dupraz experienced numerous disappointments in Saint-Etienne, notably the descent to Ligue 2. An event which deeply traumatized him. “It seems like my career ended in Sainté”
In an interview with 1 p.m. Football, Dupraz agreed to look back on his time at‘ASSE and on this match against Auxerre. «Saint-Etienne finds its place. It’s a big club. I’m very happy about that, because it takes a weight off my shoulders. I did my best, I scored 20 points in 20 games, while my predecessor only scored 12 points in 18 games. When I say that, I get smashed… I’ve coached Dijon since but it looks like my career stopped at Sainté… At the end of the return match against Auxerre, in the play-off, I get gassed by a CRS, I think he did it on purpose. It took me an hour to regain the use of my sight. A trauma. I thought we were going to make it. It was sure…” he confided.
Dupraz addresses a new tackle
Dupraz took the opportunity to tackle his former players. “We had to win by three goals in Auxerre in the first leg… Through excessive individualism, we only scored one goal. And in the return leg at home, the same thing, we had players who only played for themselves, these are the dangers of modern football. When you only see your sport, a team sport, through your individual performance, it’s a danger. » he confided.
