Paris: to visit the Eiffel Tower during the Olympic Games, pay attention to the access conditions

For the curious who would like to try to see (from very high) certain Olympic and Paralympic events without buying a ticket, the opportunity may be there. This Tuesday, the Eiffel Tower opens its online ticketing for the period of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and even before, namely between July 18 and August 11.

For several weeks, many roads and emblematic places in Paris have already been closed to traffic by motorized vehicle, or even on foot, and will remain so during the week preceding the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on July 26. But the Eiffel Tower will remain easily accessible.

Be careful, however, the week before the opening ceremony. “Located within the protection perimeter called SILT set up by the police headquarters, the Eiffel Tower will apply a specific system to welcome its visitors,” explains a press release from the Eiffel Tower Operating Company (Sete). During this period, the presentation of proof of reservation will be mandatory to access the reinforced security corridor which will lead to the entrances to the tower. » Measures valid from July 18 to 25 inclusive.

No impact of competitions on the operation of the tower

Visitors wishing to go to the Iron Lady at this time must first reserve a time slot at the official ticket office of the monument. “Either by purchasing an e-ticket to access the floors of the tower, or by reserving a ticket in pairs free allowing them to access the monument’s ticket offices for a visit the same day,” the press release specifies.

Opening hours will not change, with a range from 9 a.m. to 12:45 a.m. (last entry at midnight). “The sports competitions which will take place at the foot of the monument will have no impact on the operation of the tower,” reassures the press release.

Also note exceptional closures on July 14 for preparations for the fireworks, and on July 26, the day of the Olympic opening ceremony.
