A few days before the start of the Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar had a weekend full of emotions.

Tadej Pogacar saw the home stretch of his preparation for the Tour de France turned upside down. While he was at Isola 2000 with a few teammates to fine-tune his preparation, the Slovenian rider had to leave the course prematurely in order to return to Slovenia to be with his loved ones following the death of his grandfather.

But the weekend ended on a much happier note. The Slovenian championships, which he had skipped, indeed brought him a double dose of good news. The Slovenian champion jersey will indeed remain within the UAE-Team Emirates team.

Heading for Florence

A year after the coronation of the double winner of the Tour, it was in fact his teammate Domen Novak who won ahead of his partner Gal Glivar, Matej Mohoric having to settle for third place. And among the women, it was none other than her friend Urska Zigart who won, the runner from Liv AlUla Jayco completely crushing the race since she won with more than ten minutes ahead of Urska Pintar (BTC City Ljubljana Zhiraf Ambedo) and Spela Kern (Cofidis Women Team).

Tadej Pogacar will now be able to head to Florence, from where the 111 will departe Tour de France. The Slovenian runner is the overwhelming favorite. As much for the form displayed since the start of the season, particularly at the Giro, as because of the uncertainties which reign around his main rivals, Jonas Vingegaard in the lead.
