Mercedes accused of sabotaging Hamilton, police involved

A police investigation is currently underway after the Mercedes team was accused of sabotaging Lewis Hamilton’s car.

The case is growing: an anonymous email accuses Mercedes AMG F1 of sabotaging Lewis Hamilton, who will join Scuderia Ferrari next year. Toto Wolff, the team principal, announced in Spain that he had called on investigators to clarify the situation.

A damning email

Some fans claim Mercedes favors George Russell over Hamilton. Several media, including the Daily
Mail
received an email purportedly sent by a member of the team, denouncing the (mis)treatment of Hamilton.

“Some members of the team are unhappy with the systematic sabotage of Lewis, his car, his tire strategy, his race strategy and his mental health. Lewis is excluded and there are sneaky things happening that people need to be aware of. conscious” quote him Daily Mail.

Toto Wolff’s reaction

Wolff categorically denies these accusations, saying they did not come from a member of the team. He specifies that numerous emails and comments from fans circulate regularly without proof, and calls for denouncing and punishing this behavior.

“It wasn’t a team member who sent it. It was when we started getting these kinds of emails, and we get tons of them, that we became concerned. is upsetting, especially when someone talks about death and all these things.”

An ongoing investigation

The situation is being taken seriously, and a police investigation is underway. Mercedes F1 is working with authorities to identify the author of the email, including tracing the IP address and examining phones.

“We are looking into this particular email, and the police have made inquiriesexplains Wolff. We are looking for the IP address. We’re doing phone searches, all of this, because online abuse like this needs to stop.”

“People can’t hide behind their phones or computers and abuse teams or drivers like that. I don’t know what the conspiracy theorists and crazy people think.”

A strong relationship with Hamilton

Despite these accusations, Wolff insists on the good relationship between Hamilton and the team. It recalls their long collaboration and their common goal to finish on a high note.

“Lewis has been on the team for 12 years. We’re friends. We trust each other. We want to end this with a bang. We want to celebrate our relationship.”

Finally, Wolff sends a clear message to those who spread these rumors: “If you don’t believe all that, you can believe that we want to win the World Constructors’ Championship and that part of the World Constructors’ Championship is to have both cars win. So, to all the crazy people who say that , get help from a psychologist.”
