Kazuyoshi Miura, known as “King Kazu”, continues to push the boundaries of age in football. At 58, he is actively preparing for his 40th professional season, still playing for Atlético Suzuka, a club in the Japanese fourth division.

Miura is recognized as the oldest active professional football player. Since his debut in 1986 in Brazil with Santos FC, the player has crossed borders and decades, leaving a unique mark on world football. “I want to continue until I’m 60,” he said recently, emphasizing the importance of discipline and love of the game to last.

With the Japanese national team, Miura scored 55 goals in 89 caps. He was an emblematic figure of the 1990s, notably contributing to the popularity of the J-League during its first season in 1993.

His career is a model for young players. He played in several championships around the world, notably in Italy with Genoa CFC, in Croatia, Portugal and Australia.
