Aged only 19, Marc Cucalon, young star of Real Madrid, was forced to end his career due to a serious knee injury.

Promised for a bright future, Marc Cucalon saw his career shattered by a tackle during a Youth League match two years ago. On September 6, 2022, the young people of Real Madrid were away on the pitch at Celtic Glasgow. And if the Merengue had quietly won (0-6), the young midfielder had left the pitch on a stretcher, seriously injured in the knee.

Victim of a tackle from an opponent, the native of Madrid suffered from a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee. An injury that is quite common in football but which gave rise to fatal complications for the young player. The fault was a bacteria caught during the operation and which caused a serious infection which attacked the cartilage of the knee. After a long fight, Marc Cucalon gave up his arms.

“After several complications, this injury forced me to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to football, at least in the way I had always dreamed of, he wrote in a message published on Instagram. Over the past two years, I have fought physically and mentally with all my might and tried everything in my power to enjoy this sport again, but it has not been possible to put it back. But make no mistake: this isn't a sad goodbye at all. »
