In addition, the trampoline cabin in the garden, so dear to Raymond Devos, used as an artistic residence, was swallowed up by water: nearly 80 cm of water took its place in the building renovated last spring.
Faced with this important tile, the Raymond Devos Foundation, guarantor of his memory, is today calling for solidarity in order to face this exceptional situation to restore, protect and preserve the cultural heritage and artistic heritage of Raymond Devos.
“President Catherine Dolto, the Board of Directors and the team of the Raymond Devos Foundation thank you for your mobilization alongside us which testifies to your attachment and your desire to take part in the protection and preservation of this heritage unique. Every donation counts!”
Rich memories to see in every room
As a reminder, the Raymond Devos Foundation, desired by the artist, was created and recognized as being of public utility by decree of January 14, 2009.
Its objectives are to
- protect the work of Raymond Devos in order to preserve its memory and make it known to as many people as possible;
- disseminate the work of Raymond Devos in France and abroad;
- promote the French language; transmit the artist’s work, and more broadly the taste for words and the way he looked at the world;
- receive the public in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse, in the house of Raymond Devos, to discover the world of the artist thanks to a unique, sensitive and interactive museographic journey.
The House Museum, open since 2016, is labeled Maison des Illustres.
It is located in the residence that the artist occupied from 1963 to 2006.
This 19th century house and its park were, for 43 years, his daily refuge and place of creation.
Raymond Devos, to continue to share his work even in “after him” as he called it, had planned in his will the creation of a foundation in his name, one of the missions of which would be to design a museum in his home.
Today, the house can be visited almost entirely.
The visitor will find both rooms with a lively and interactive scenography, in the image of the artist, but also preserved pieces as Raymond Devos left them.
