What if Barça, already well-endowed in terms of youth and talent, already had a new nugget. Indeed, as Sport explains, Toni Fernández already arouses the very flattering comparison with another prodigy, Lamine Yamal, currently injured. At just 16 years old, this young talent from Rubí displays similar characteristics to Lamine, including his creativity, vision of the game and ability to score. However, Toni is also recovering from an ankle injury, similar to Lamine’s, and is not expected to return until December.
Toni Fernandez shone in pre-season
During pre-season, Toni Fernandez impressed manager Hansi Flick, who fielded him against teams like Manchester City and AC Milan. Although Toni was initially slated to play with the Juvenil A team, he shone with Barça Atlètic, scoring two goals and becoming an attacking mainstay alongside Unai Hernández. His versatility allows him to play as an attacking midfielder or false right winger, a role where Flick sees him as an alternative to Lamine Yamal. Although he is still developing, his ability to provide assists and read the game makes him an ideal candidate to bring creativity to the first team in the near future.
