Pep Guardiola admits 'maybe another team deserves' to win Premier League after Manchester City's fourth consecutive defeat in nightmare series

Pep Guardiola has admitted another club could win the Premier League this year following Manchester City's fourth consecutive defeat this season.

For the first time in his coaching career, Guardiola suffered four defeats in a row as Manchester City lost 2-1 to Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday. Erling Haaland put his side ahead in the 23rd minute, but Joao Pedro brought the Seagulls back into the game with a strike in the 78th minute before setting up Matt O'Riley for the winning goal five minutes later.

Guardiola gives up

In the space of two weeks, City were knocked out of the Carabao Cup, suffered a humiliating defeat to Sporting CP in the Champions League and suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League, widening the gap to the leaders Liverpool on five points. After Saturday's match, a disappointed Guardiola admitted his side might not win the league title this year.

Speaking to the BBC, the City boss said:
“Maybe after seven years we've won six Premier League titles, maybe one year another team will deserve it. We are not able to do 90 minutes at the moment. We played a very good first half and moments in the second half. We lost again, so we need to get our heads together, [aller à la] international break and hope that our players return to form. “

He added: “We have to try to win games again. We weren't able to keep up the pace in the second half. Four [défaites] in a row. We need to change things quickly. The schedule is getting tough, but it will happen when the players return. “

The Cityzens will look to regain their form and return to winning ways after the international break. They will next face Tottenham in the Premier League on November 23.
