Ceballos’ harsh letter to his hometown

The midfielder published an open letter expressing his outrage at the treatment he received from his hometown leaders.

After winning titles, footballers are often congratulated by the entities that have marked their career, notably the first clubs or the cities where they were born. Ceballos was completely ignored, which he didn’t really appreciate.

The Real Madrid midfielder took everyone by surprise by sending an open letter to the city council of Utrera, his hometown, in which he expressed his indignation at the treatment received by politicians after winning the championship and the Champions League with the club.

“Not a single phone call…”

The footballer regrets that “not a single person from the Utrera town hall has contacted him” to congratulate him on his recent successes with Real Madrid, notably the 15th Champions League in the club’s history. “Not a single message, not a single phone call… Including the sports advisor. Nobody. Nothing,” writes Dani Ceballos, who has always been very attached to his native land.

“I have never asked for, and I never will ask for, any recognition, and I neither want nor need it. I want to make it clear that this is not what it is about, and they know it, and what lies behind it is becoming more and more obvious,” he continues.

“Despite everything, Utrera is the most beautiful thing for me. I will continue to carry its flag in every final, because even if they don’t like me at the town hall, the real inhabitants of Utrera, which is mine, do it”, adds the Spaniard, visibly very upset by this lack of recognition, in this letter published on his Instagram account this Friday.
