Montrevault-sur-Èvre. The Maug’ettes leave for the Trek’in Gazelles in Morocco

Sandra Orhan and Sylvaine Terrien are colleagues with Jessica Chevrier, they formed a trio to participate in the 4e edition of the Trek’in Gazelles organized by Maïenga for the benefit of the Epi’Dans association. In common, they wanted to take on a sporting challenge. For personal reasons, Jessica having had to cancel her participation, she needed a replacement. After reflection, Sandra and Sylvaine suggested that Julie Bigeard, the president of Epi’Dans, live this adventure.

It is therefore quite natural that Julie joined Les Maug’ettes who have been preparing for a year on a physical, mental and material level. Julie started playing basketball a week ago, she has stamina. On a material level, she is very supported by her trekking acolytes.

The trio sets off this Saturday morning for Ancenis station to reach , where a plane will be waiting for them as well as the 147 other teams of 3. The Trek’in Gazelles is a 100% feminine and eco-responsible trek which combines competition , support for the French Secours populaire and plastic collection action in the desert entitled “CleanWalkeuses du desert”.

The trek is four days of orientation testing in the Moroccan desert using a map, a compass and geographic coordinates without electronic navigation or telephone. Three types of checkpoints must be reached every day, covering the shortest distance possible (around 20/25 km). The goal being to find as many beacons as possible, the Maïenga organization will donate €5 to Secours populaire for each beacon found by a crew during the events.

On the bivouac, several “comfort zones” will be set up under tents bringing together 90 organizers on the ground with the Gazelles. For added security, each team will have a security and satellite location system in their possession. During the first three editions, €76,650 was donated to Secours populaire français.
