Arne Slot does better than Jürgen Klopp, he reveals why

A former Liverpool player has highlighted the Dutch manager’s impact on the performance of two elements of the team.

Arne Slot is currently brilliantly taking over from Jürgen Klopp on the Liverpool bench, since his arrival last summer. Indeed, the Mersey club remains at the top of the Premier League, two points ahead of its pursuer, Manchester City.

In the Champions League, the Reds also dominate the League stage standings, with a two-point advantage over Sporting and AS Monaco. But where the Dutch technician differs from his predecessor is in his management of Ryan Gravenberch and Luis Diaz.

Gravenberch and Diaz sublimated by Slot

Gravenberch, who arrived from Bayern Munich in September 2023 for 40 million euros, quickly established himself as a pillar of Slot’s eleven. With already 14 starts in as many matches, he shows impressive consistency compared to his 21 appearances in 38 matches last season.

As for Luis Diaz, the Colombian striker has a record of 9 goals and 2 assists in 13 matches, compared to his 13 goals and 5 assists in 51 matches last season. Jermaine Pennant, former LFC member, believes that the ex-Feyenoord coach exploited the potential of these two players better than Klopp.

“Klopp missed something”

“What I think he’s done incredibly, which Klopp hasn’t done, is he’s now starting to get the best out of Luis Diaz. He now scores goals galore. And the transformation of Gravenberch, putting him at number six. Klopp missed something there because we were playing Endo, no disrespect to Endo, he was just a stopgap. He can’t do what Gravenberch does, turning and crossing that midfield.”analyzed the former English attacking midfielder for talkSPORT.

The former Bavarian also shares this opinion. “The coach knows I have a lot of footballing talent in me. He has a clear plan, with the construction, with the pressing. It’s up to me to maintain that and be consistent. He gave me a chance from the start. I had to concentrate on a certain position, a little more defensive”said Gravenberch, proud to flourish under the orders of Slot.
