Algeria Football– Zakaria El Ouahdi impresses observers and coaches of the Belgian championship. Since his arrival at KRC Genk, the Moroccan right-back has confirmed all the good things people think of him, and his current coach does not hesitate to describe him as a phenomenon. Hein Vanhaezebrouck, former coach of La Gantoise and consultant for *Nieuwsblad*, is full of praise for the young player.
KRC Genk are currently leading the Pro League, with a comfortable 7-point lead over Club Brugge, and El Ouahdi is playing a key role in this success. The former La Gantoise coach highlights not only his technical and physical qualities, but also his exemplary attitude. Indeed, despite a turbulent summer and a transfer offer from Benfica, which he ultimately refused, the player did not seek to disrupt his environment. “He is the best right-back in our championship. He refused to give in to the sirens of the big clubs, and his determination is impressive. For a coach, having a player like him on his team is a real luxury,” explains Vanhaezebrouck.
If his performances continue on this momentum, El Ouahdi’s future seems clear. According to Hein Vanhaezebrouck, it is certain that the player’s transfer will take place sooner or later, and if the latter manages to improve his statistics, the biggest clubs in Europe will be on his trail.
However, despite this praise, Zakaria El Ouahdi has not yet been called up by Walid Regragui for the Moroccan national team. It seems that the player, frustrated by this situation, could now be open to the idea of representing Belgium on the international stage, a choice which could mark an important turning point in his career.
