Stade Rennais. Julien Stéphan's replacement in the waiting room

The fog persists over , and this Tuesday afternoon, Julien Stéphan led the recovery session after the slap. Without knowing if this will still be the case tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, or even if he will have to sit on the bench one last time on Sunday (5 p.m.), during the reception of at Roazhon Park…

The situation is lunar, including for Stéphan who is experiencing it, in a club which is looking for its compass and worked actively this Tuesday on the arrival of a new coach to replace him.

We have to move forward very quickly while trying not to make mistakes, given the stakes and the fragile state in which the team already finds itself.

Decision as of this Wednesday, or even this Thursday? That would be the idea. But the mastery of the clocks appears more or less obvious, depending on the identity of the candidates that the SRFC management continued to interview, their requirements, their situation, even the duration of the contract (only eight months?) envisaged…

For the good of all, quickly clear up the vagueness

A shortlist of five or six names was asked. Have they all filtered, and what is plan A, in which direction? Here again, the vagueness remained until Tuesday evening.

Patrick Vieira (who offered himself) or Habib Beye (associated with Mathieu Le Scornet, a former member of the house), were discussed internally, who would not be unanimously accepted, in particular because of his lack of experience at a position which will be under high pressure. Rennes would like a profile capable of shaking up the coconut tree a little.

There is also the option of the Argentinian Jorge Sampaoli (ex-OM), or that of the Franco-Canadian Wilfried , reigning MLS champion with Columbus Crew, whose name was recently mentioned on the Saint-Etienne side. A surprising avenue, which would appear risky to say the least in the current Rennes context…

We also know that president Arnaud Pouille would like to work again with Franck Haise, himself attached to the SRFC, but it would not be easy to get him out of during the season.

Certain spheres outside the club have spread the idea that Sergio Conceiçao could be keen to come. Except that the Portuguese, whose emoluments are XXL (and the staff very numerous), had not had direct contact with Rennes, at least until midday on Tuesday… For the good of all, he will the suspense must not drag on.
