As preparation for Euro 2024 begins, Kylian Mbappé remembers the previous edition, and the failure of the Blues. It was the international competition where he learned the most.

During a press conference this Tuesday, on the eve of France-Luxembourg, Kylian Mbappé did not want to talk about Real Madrid. If he talked a lot about his season at Paris Saint-Germain, the Blues striker also talked about the upcoming Euro, delving into the memories of his previous international campaigns.

“At the 2018 World Cup I didn’t learn because I won straight away and you don’t learn by winning,
he explains. At Euro 2021, I took a hit with this failed competition. It helped me for the World Cup afterwards. Euro 2021 is the competition where I learned the most, it’s my big black spot in the selection. The 2022 World Cup, you also learn but we lose it on penalties, by going to the maximum of what we can do. »

Mbappé hopes to use these experiences, and in particular that of three years ago (after a disappointing group stage, he missed the shot on goal which precipitated the elimination of the Blues against Switzerland), to prepare for the next big deadline to come. “It’s complicated but the Euro has served me a lot and that’s good, we’re going to play one. I have this vindictive mindset. The player that I am at the Euro still has everything to demonstrate. It’s exciting and it’s an individual and collective challenge”promises the captain of the Blues.
