The Toulouse Lutte Club finishes in style

Last Saturday at Le Creusot, a delegation of six Toulouse wrestlers presented themselves at the French championships. Once again, the Ville Rose club stood out. In – 57 kg, the club’s nugget, Issa Akhmadov, won the national title. “It was really our objective for these French championships. It was a complicated final against a vicious opponent who tried to make him come out of his fight, but he remained focused”, relates Soufyane Fassouh, one leaders. The other big performance was that of AbdouMalik Badashev in – 97 kg. This first year junior was upgraded and offered an exceptional performance, as Soufyane Fassouh explains: “We realized the day before the competition, during the weigh-in, that he had melted a lot. And in fact he weighed 86 kg. So he fought, had a truly incredible run and lost in the semi-final against the future champion. He really had a remarkable fight but he paid cash for his weight deficit. Afterwards, he easily won the fight for third. place.”

These French championships therefore mark the epilogue of a more than successful season. “This is the club’s best season since its creation in terms of titles and medals. We have still had a lot of feedback on our organization of the French youth championships so we are very happy,” says the manager. Now, time for an international season with the European Championships. Here again, the club intends to show itself, but under certain conditions. Indeed, Issa Akhmadov could normally participate in the European Championships, as French champion in -57 kg, except that he does not have French nationality. The fighter has applied for sporting citizenship and is now waiting. “They give one per year to a foreigner, so as in the other categories the champions are French, we hope that it will be in his favor. Especially since there are no French fighters in – 57 kg So this is the opportunity.” The opportunity also for the club to reach a new level.
