Salies-du-Salat. Jonathan Vaillant: a complete pétanque player

If the main strength of Boule du Cagire lies above all in its collective, proven many times in club competitions (French Cup and various club championships), this asset in no way prevents its individuals from shining in the five major categories that includes pétanque (heads to heads, doublets, triplets, doublets and mixed triplets).

If in terms of prize list or reputation, the Aspétois leaders are undoubtedly Cyril Saux and Patrick Bonifas, double departmental champions, unfortunately never at the Boule du Cagire, as well as Thierry Périssé (7 qualifications to his credit for various French championships) , other individuals from the local bowling club are not very far away.

Among these is Jonathan Vaillant, complete pétanque player, good pointer and excellent shooter.

After starting out in Caumont in Ariège, he arrived in Rouède in 2016 during the heyday of Boule du Cagire.

Each season, he is the one who wins the most qualifications for his club in these five major categories contested in the championship (5 out of 5 last season and 4 out of 5 this season, only the mixed triplets having escaped him).

On the departmental level, he regularly performs in triplets (vice-champion this season and semi-finalist last season with his same partners, J.-J. Albert and P. Bonifas), a formidable doublet.

Also a semi-finalist this season in mixed doubles with his sister Alison, Jonathan excels especially in head-to-head matches, where he regularly qualifies and obtains good results at departmental level (round of 16 this season).

Given his age (33), he constitutes the future of Boule du Cagire which is counting on him to win a departmental championship, this old dream of the club.
