Disturbances should be expected in Mayenne with the passage of the Olympic flame this Wednesday, May 29. 108 porters will take turns in seven municipalities in the department : Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne, Cossé-le-Vivien, Sainte-Suzanne-et-Chammes, Chailland, Mayenne, Pré-en-Pail, Saint-Samson with Mont-des-Avaloirs, and Laval. The elected officials also took orders to prohibit traffic and parking on the route and on the outskirts.

Restrictions in Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne

Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne will be the first stage of the Olympic torch relay. Departure is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. this Wednesday from the Pendu lock, towards the Clarisse Agbegnenou dojo. Streets in the area will be blocked one hour before, from 8:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. It will also be prohibited to park on the majority of the route from 2 p.m. this Tuesday until 12 p.m. the next day, particularly on the banks of the Mayenne and on avenues Razilly and Carnot.

Restrictions in Mayenne

Mayenne will be the fifth stage of the Olympic torch relay in the department. It will leave at 3:35 p.m. from rue Volney, opposite the multipurpose room. The arrival is planned at the intersection of rue du 130 Régiment d’artiste and rue Charles de Gaulle. The route will be closed to traffic from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and to parking from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Certain car parks will be affected by this ban.

Restrictions in Laval

Laval will be the last stage of the Olympic torch relay in Mayenne. Nearly 80 streets, avenues and intersections will be closed to traffic on the route between the Manuela Montebrun Stadium, where the flame will leave at 5:50 p.m., and the Espace Mayenne, notably passing through Boston Square. This ban will be effective at 4:50 p.m., one hour before departure. Avenue Pierre de Coubertin is affected, for example, as are Quai Beatrix de Gavre, Rue Leo Lagrange and Avenue Robert Buron.

As for parking, it will be prohibited to park from this Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the International Residence Center, avenue Pierre de Coubertin. This will also be the case from 10 a.m. Wednesday on the first part of the route then from 2 p.m. for the second, starting from the station, until the system is lifted. The La Paix, Boston and Emmanuel College de Marton car parks are also affected.
