World Triathlons | Cassandre Beaugrand ends an unacceptable season

The WTCS triathlon final was held in Spain, and for the occasion, Cassandre Beaugrand had a golden opportunity to give us a new shameful coronation, namely the title of world champion, after the Olympic one in . One of the rare trophies missing from his record. And after an irresistible deliberation, the sentence finally fell; our weekend is (even) darker than we thought.

Cassandre Beaugrand on top of the world, again

We believed it. We hoped so much. After Cassandre Beaugrand’s legendary swimming error, which saw the Frenchwoman get the course wrong and be up to fifteen seconds behind the leader of the race, we prayed that the world title would escape her.

But the Frenchwoman never panicked. Worse, she came back on her competitors on the pedal, before taking the running reins, and disgusting her “adversaries” for good. A filthy comeback which therefore shatters our hope of seeing her lose the world title for a mistake along the way. It would have been a shame if we had said that. But instead, Cassandra concludes a year to quickly forget. After his Olympic title at home, Beaugrand won the one he was missing, namely the world crown.

In an energy of despair, the perfidious Albion lodges a complaint following the help received by Cassandre Beaugrand by the race management jet-ski. But after a long deliberation, our hope explodes a second time. Indeed, Beth Potter will not win the race after the possible elimination of the Frenchwoman, and worse, she will not steal the world title from her. The icing on the poisoned cake, Emma Lombardi finished third in the race, as well as in the general classification of the World Cup. Let’s turn the page on triathlon, and quickly.
