The said agreement is for a period of three years; it will therefore be valid until the 2026-27 season. As per Players’ Association standards, the terms of the contract are not made public.

Boreen was Victory’s third-round pick in the last Professional Women’s Hockey League (LPHF) draft. Her selection surprised more than one, including the player herself, considering that she had played 14 games with the Minnesota team, as a reserve player, last season.

“Because of her experience in our circuit, we knew what Abby could bring to our team when we selected her last June,” began the general director, Danièle Sauvageau, in a press release. “She will bring energy and enthusiasm to our lineup which will certainly please our fans. »

The 24-year-old American scored five points, including four goals, last season with the Minnesota team, now called the Frost. She also collected an assist in five playoff games; the Frost ultimately won the Walter Cup.

“I am very grateful and excited to join the Montreal organization. I am very much looking forward to this new chapter in my life and having the opportunity to play in front of such dedicated fans,” said Boreen. “I plan to help the sport that has given me so much in life grow. Come on Victory! »

Before playing in the LPHF, Boreen played five seasons with the University of Minnesota Gophers. She scored 60 goals and 66 assists in 166 games.

Remember that the Victoire will begin its training camp on November 12. Its first game of the season is scheduled for November 30, at Place Bell.
