Amin Cherni was one of the revelations of last season, playing almost the entire championship due to the absence of Edson Seidou, injured. The former Chambly player (N2) also had his first selection for the Tunisian team. During the winter transfer window, the Mayenne left piston was already in the sights of a few clubs and this continued this summer during the off-season. Will leave, will not leave? “I explained to Amin that he couldn’t be in two places at once” admits Tango coach, Olivier Frapolli. The name of Cherni has indeed circulated a lot, particularly in Ligue 1 clubs, but without materialization. A situation not easy to manage, believes Olivier Frapolli: “this was a repeated discussion throughout the preparation and until recently. There were the last days of the transfer window, the possibility of leaving as a joker… In a very short period, you can be tossed around but you cannot have a season being half here and elsewhere. You have to position yourself for yourself, for the team, for the club. We had to get out of this situation as quickly as possible. And I think Amin handled it pretty well overall.“
Cherni: “it’s rewarding”
All that is behind him, the Franco-Tunisian player explains today: “I switched, I’m here, I’m focused on my job in Laval. Hearing his name in clubs in Ligue 1 is rewarding. But we have to move on quickly and not get stuck on what happened during the transfer window. We must move forward and continue to work.“
Competing with William Kokolo for the left piston position, Amin Cherni played six of the eight Ligue 2 matches as a starter this season. After a hectic summer, autumn is much calmer for Amin Cherni.
