London, US football, podcast… How Griezmann is enjoying his international retirement

Antoine Griezmann is going through his first break since announcing his international retirement. At 33, he can enjoy more rest and give more time to certain passions.

For 10 years he used to leave Spain every international break to go to Clairefontaine Castle. This time, none of that. Antoine Griezmann has retired from the Blues, and will surely be in front of his television this Monday evening to see his ex-teammates challenge Belgium.

So how does the darling of the French public spend his time now that he can rest during the break? US football, US football, and US football could we summarize in broad terms. A big fan of American football, the Atlético player is taking advantage of his new free time to fully pursue his interest in this sport.

This Sunday, while the Blues were preparing for the match against Belgium at Clairefontaine, Antoine Griezmann was visiting London. In the stands of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Atlético player attended the American football match between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Chicago Bears.

A podcast in his name

It was one of three NFL games relocated to London this October. Before going to the English capital, Antoine Griezmann was also active on the social networks of the American league. He participated in a new episode of the podcast in his name, Grizi Huddle, available on the official channels of Mundo NFL, the Spanish-speaking channel of the NFL.

Passionate about US football for four years, the Frenchman plays a real role as ambassador for the sport in Europe. He is also trying to speed up the arrival of the NFL for a meeting in the Atlético stadium. “I tried with people at the club and the NFL. For me, it is the most beautiful stadium there is, and also with everything that is around it, the parking lot and the fan zones that could be created,” he said during his visit to London these last few days.

Far from the team, Antoine Griezmann therefore has more time to enjoy his second passion, but also to rest. After giving the impression of fatigue during the Euro, the former vice-captain of the Blues had experienced a shortened season preparation. These two weeks without matches therefore allow the Frenchman to regain his strength, and to continue to recover his full physical form.

Work in front of goal

Before enjoying two and a half days of rest, he was present at training at the Atlético de Madrid base camp. Diego Simeone’s men also worked particularly hard in front of the cages this Friday, during the final session of the first week of break.

After his time in London, he will be back in training this Monday evening, like the rest of his teammates. At the club, his international retirement is also viewed very favorably. A crucial player for Diego Simeone, who will therefore be fresher, and 100% dedicated to the club’s season.

Failing to have found the Blues in recent days, Antoine Griezmann will cross paths with two French clubs in the coming weeks. On October 23, during the next day of the Champions League, Atlético de Madrid will host LOSC. On November 6, Antoine Griezmann will then go to the pitch of Saint-Germain, for his big reunion with the French public.
