David Savard thinks big for his defense partner Lane Hutson, who was very strong Wednesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs, failing to have darkened the score sheet.
“He’s going to be special,” he predicted during a post-match interview on TVA Sports. I think everyone sees that.”
The veteran feels blessed to play a role in the birth of an impact player.
“The way he walks on the ice, his skating, his vision,” he said. It’s going to be something. It’s fun for me to be able to observe him every day and try to help him as much as possible so that he progresses and becomes a pillar of our offensive.
Seeing the young man’s pirouettes, does Savard, who was a rather skilled offensive defender in his heyday, feel inspired?
Not really.
“In my opinion, there is nothing he does that I am capable of doing,” he admitted with a laugh. Those days are over!”
