Top 14 – “We have started discussions with Stade français”, Paris FC wants to settle in Jean-Bouin

While the FC football club should be bought by the Arnault family and by Red Bull, the question of the stadium arises. With the possible change in size of the Parisian team, the shareholders are looking for an arena capable of welcoming more people and therefore generating more income.

It’s a small revolution in French football. Paris FC, second division club (Ligue 2), goes according to the newspaper the Team to be bought by the Arnault family – whose fortune was estimated at 190 billion euros in July by the magazine Challenges – and by the Red Bull company. A real change of direction for the capital club, which is now arming itself to shine at the top of French football. In the projects to be launched for new investors, the stadium file is one of the priorities. President and majority shareholder of the PFC since 2012, Pierre Ferracci had already expressed his desire to leave the Charléty stadium, the current home of the club. “The strategy is to land at the Jean-Bouin stadium next summer, assumed with the Team the one who will still be president of the club until 2027. We started discussions with Stade Français, which holds the concession. And I would like to point out that Jean-Bouin, I am even going there in Ligue 2. The renovation of the Charléty stadium will take time and we are not ruling out, on the contrary, returning there when the conditions are more optimal.”

Lots of steps to go through

The reasons for this change are essentially economic since by moving to Jean-Bouin (19,904 places), Paris FC would thus guarantee a potential increase in revenue, both in terms of ticketing and attractiveness. The Charléty stadium being basically a multi-sports stadium, Parisians have never felt at home there. Many steps must still be taken before seeing the football club in the current den of the Stade Français: negotiation with the rugby club but also with PSG, which plays at the Parc des Princes, located just a few meters away. Also, if the PFC wants to play at Jean-Bouin, a change of turf must be made since it will absolutely be necessary to change the synthetic in place for a hybrid in order to host the football matches. Pierre Ferracci concluded: “We will chat with everyone. But we should be able to find a small place for Paris FC. Especially in Ligue 1, right?
