Jürgen Klopp has found a new job!

On January 26, Jürgen Klopp surprised everyone. Indeed, the German technician announced his departure from Liverpool that day, after nine seasons spent on the Reds bench. This, while his contract initially ran until June 2026. But the former coach of Borussia Dortmund had decided to move on after leading the Mersey club to the summits in the Premier League and the Champions League. He therefore made the news official in a video published on the LFC website.

“I will leave the club at the end of the season. I can understand that it will be a shock to people when they hear it, but I can at least try to explain it. I love absolutely everything about this club, in this city, in its supporters. I like the team, the staff, everything. But I still make this decision, of which I am convinced (…) I am running out of energy. I have no problems at the moment, I’m fine at the moment. But I know I couldn’t keep doing the job over and over and over again. After all the years together, all the time spent, all the trials, with all the respect and love that has grown over the years, I owed you the truth, and it is the truth.”

Klopp, who won six major titles during his time with the Reds, therefore finished the 2023-24 season before bidding a very emotional farewell to the residents of Anfield Road. Quickly, the name of the German technician was linked to a few clubs looking for a new coach. Thus, he was associated with Bayern Munich or even FC Barcelona. But Klopp didn’t join any of these clubs. In recent months he has made the most of his time off, even though he became a Liverpool ambassador. Recently, he made a surprising confession about his future during the International Coaches Congress.

A new cap for the German

“From today, it’s over for me as a coach! I’m not making this decision on a whim but it was a general decision. I have coached the best clubs in the world. I still want to work in football and help people with my experience and contacts. Right now, there is absolutely nothing in terms of jobs. There is no club, there is no selection. I will continue to work. I’m too young to just play padel and spend time only with my grandchildren. Will it be coaching again? I exclude this possibility for the moment. We’ll see in a few months.”

A strong release that surprised everyone again. And this is not his last surprise since this Wednesday, Sky Germany reveals that the 57-year-old has accepted a new position. Indeed, he will become the new Global Head of Football of the Red Bull group. The German media explains that he has already signed a long-term contract and that he will officially take office on January 1, 2025. His mission will be to advise all the clubs in the Red Bull galaxy (Leipzig, Salzburg, New York, etc…) regarding training, playing philosophy, talent development, transfers of players and coaches. However, Klopp added a clause allowing him to leave to become Germany manager. A return one day to a bench is therefore not totally impossible.
