Pep Guardiola, Manchester City manager, gave the reason why he did not call on Kevin De Bruyne this Saturday against Fulham.
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has just announced that it was Kevin de Bruyne who made the decision not to play this Saturday.
Guardiola accepted De Bruyne’s choice
The Belgian international was not present for the championship match against Fulhame and it was a choice that came from himself and not from the technical staff. Guardiola explained: “He had surgery which kept him out of action for five months. When something like this happens, it throws the body out of balance. He can’t play every three days. He decides what is best for him and people need to understand that. From experience, I know that you have to be careful after such a serious injury.”
Man City have participated in 11 matches this season in all competitions. De Bruyne only played 6, including 5 as a starter. He scored a goal and delivered an assist.
Without their metronome, City won 3-2 against the Cottagers. A result which keeps Guardiola’s side one point behind Liverpool at the top of the standings.
