Bayern Munich received bad news on Sunday before the clash against Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich travel to the Real Madrid stadium next Wednesday for the Champions League semi-final second leg. After the draw conceded in the first leg (2-2), the Bavarians must achieve a feat at the Santiago Bernabeu in order to return to the final of the premier club competition. However, the news is not good for the German club three days before the clash against the Madrilenians.

Raphael Guerreiro forfeits against Real Madrid

Eliminated from the national cups and having already lost the title this season, Bayern Munich only has the Champions League to save its season. But the Bavarian club must first eliminate Real Madrid from the competition. During the semi-final first leg, Bayern, although dominant, was put in difficulty after the Merengues opened the score. It took a tactical change from Thomas Tuchel and the entry of Raphael Guerreiro to turn the situation around.

The latter will not be part of the return leg. Bayern Munich announce the return of Matthijs de Ligt

Bayern Munich will therefore be deprived of Raphael Guerreiro next Wednesday against Real Madrid. On the other hand, Thomas Tuchel could count on the return of Matthijs de Ligt. The Dutch international indeed returned to training this Sunday as announced by the Munich club. Matthijs de Ligt notably withdrew from the first leg after being injured during the match against Eintracht Frankfurt three days earlier. The Dutch defender should be ready for Wednesday like Jamal Musiala, who was rested against Stuttgart on Saturday.
