The Swiss did not open the doors to a final at the World Relay Championships in the Bahamas. But the hope of qualifying for the Paris Games remains.

The mixed 4 x 400 relay left the best impression on me in the Swiss camp during the heats. With a time of 3’14”47, Ricky Petrucciani, Giulia Senn, Lionel Spitz and Annina Fahr came within 0”25 of the Swiss record. They signed the ninth time of the series to consider the repechage with real optimism.

In the 4 x 100 m, Pascal Mancini, William Reais, Felix Svensson and Timothée Mumenthaler also convinced with the 12th time in 38”55. On the other hand, the women’s relays of the 4 x100 m composed of Géraldine Frey, Salomé Kora, Léonie Pointet and Sarah Atcho-Jaquier and the 4 x 400 m with Catia Gubelmann, Lena Wernli, Michelle Liem and Yasmin Giger, did not really fill their contract. They have to settle for 17th and 18th respectively.

Sunday’s repechages will feature three heats in each of the five events. You must set one of the two best times in your series to qualify for the Paris Games.
