Alexandre Mendy, top scorer in the championship with 20 goals, is one of the five players nominated for the UNFP title of best player of the Ligue 2 season. The weedy striker is pitted against championship leaders. A few additional goals during the last days of the championship will necessarily be a plus for his candidacy.
The only Caen resident nominated
Alexandre Mendy is the only player at Stade Malherbe to have been selected among the three categories represented: best player, best goalkeeper and best coach. For Nicolas Seube, such individuality is a good thing for create a successful group.
I am very happy for him. He has had remarkable statistics for three seasons and will perhaps be voted best player in the championship. My vision is collective. It is to create a collective which, thanks to its individualities, is capable of winning matches.
Other nominees include the three best passers in the championship who are Ilan Kebbal (Paris FC), Gauthier Hein and Gaëtan Perrin (Auxerre) as well as SCO Angers midfielder Himad Abdelli. The verdict on the UNFP trophies will be delivered on Monday May 13, 2024.
