CF Montreal lost for the fourth time in its last seven matches, this time against Nashville SC, Saturday evening at Geodis Park.

Indeed, Laurent Courtois’ men lost by a score of 4 to 1. The Montrealers will certainly have regrets, having allowed two goals in the first 20 minutes of the match.

Sam Surridge first opened the scoring by taking advantage of a nice through ball from Dru Yearwood. The first city received the ball before opening the foot to beat goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois. Ten minutes later, Walker Zimmerman doubled his team’s lead on a corner kick when he used his head to send the ball into the back of the net.

Returning from the locker room, Surridge hit the mark again after a great team game, before completing his hat trick at the very end of the match.

At the 65e minute, and after a cross, Zimmerman wanted to ward off the danger, but instead he deflected the ball directly into his cages.

Nevertheless, it was the only goal for the Montrealers, who did not manage to be very dangerous until the final whistle, even if they thought they reduced the gap to 4 to 2 with a new goal against the camp of Nashville. That said, this success was refused by the officials because of an offside by Mason Toye.

With this defeat, Montreal is now in 11e position in the Eastern Conference by virtue of a harvest of 12 points in 10 games. As a reminder, the Belle Province club has not won since April 13 against FC Cincinnati.

CF will face Forge FC on Tuesday in the quarter-finals of the Canadian Championship, before welcoming Lionel Messi and Inter Miami on May 11 at Stade Saputo.
