Mission accomplished for Servette FC!

Six days after the semi-final of the Swiss Cup, the Garnet again beat FC Winterthur. They won 2-1 at the Stade de Genève on Saturday in the Super League.

If the decision came very late last Sunday at the Schützenwiese with Timothé Cognat’s goal in the 88th minute, Servette FC this time achieved the perfect KO from the start. Two errors from Marvin Keller allowed the Grenat to lead 2-0 in the… 4th minute.

On two serves from Bendeguz Bolla which abused the FC Winterthur goalkeeper, Enzo Crivelli and David Douline scored without encountering the slightest opposition. Randy Schneider’s goal in the 86th minute should not call into question the outcome of this meeting, even if the Servettians did not go very far from the professional foul at the end of the match.

On loan from Young Boys, Marvin Keller went through arguably his most difficult match of the year. Even if the future seems promising for him, the 21-year-old goalkeeper still seems a little too ‘soft’ to take on more responsibilities than those he has today in Winterthur. The way in which he passed through both Servetti goals is striking.

Partial closed session

This victory was achieved during a partial closed session due to the closure of the North Stand dictated after Sunday’s incidents in Winterthur. Followed by 5,874 spectators, this meeting fortunately took place without the slightest clash, as if the imminence of the final on June 2 at Wankdorf now prevented any excess.

Thanks to this success which was undoubtedly the easiest of its marathon season, Servette FC provisionally took second place with one point ahead of FC Lugano who host FC St-Gall this evening, and five points for Young Boys who will play in Zurich on Sunday. If the Ticino and the Bernese were to stumble, the Garnet would fully return to the game for the title race.
