Trail. Manchois Paul Fontenay finishes in the Top 20 of an international event

After its beautiful 19^e place during the last Diagonal of Foolsin Reunion, the Gratotais Paul Fontenay had set himself a first objective this season, by participating in the MIUT115 on the island of Madeira (Portugal), a event with an international reputation.

I hoped to make a Top 10 to confirm the hopes placed in me after my Diagonale des Fous. But I had done so much special preparation, without ever finding any good sensations since February, that I left without any objective.

He even almost canceled everything, but “a few clues” finally brought him back in trust so that he could try his luck, on a test that he wanted to do one day.

In the end, the sensations were quite good at the beginning, and it held up for a long time Top 10 daysup to around ten kilometers from the finish, on a descending part.

I became aware of the importance of training in the mountains, in order to develop certain muscular qualities. With my association, I hope to be able to organize courses in the mountains.

He also suffered from particularly bad conditions: “I didn’t expect to have so many rain, with 3°C felt during the night and very thick fog. »

He finally crossed the finish line at the 18^e place . “It remains a Top 20on a world eventwith training in Normandy, you have to know how to appreciate things, knowing that it was only my third ultra-trail. I still have time anddesire to progress . »

We should see him again in the Channel during the 80 km of the Barjo, “but without a classification objective because I will not have the necessary preparation”.

He then hopes to “participate in a race for the UTMB label, but I don’t know which one yet”, with the idea of ​​participating in thelegendary Mont-Blanc eventnext year.
