The hard core of Beerschot made its dissatisfaction known, thus forcing the end of the match against Antwerp.
We expected an explosive Antwerp city derby…we were not disappointed. Indeed, the Beerschot supporters, present in the Bosuil stadium, did not hesitate to express their dissatisfaction with the difficult situation of their club.
As we approached the end of the match and Antwerp led 4-0, the Beerschot ultras threw smoke bombs and pyrotechnic devices onto the field.
The match ultimately did not come to an end, the referee Lothar D’Hondt decreeing the definitive cessation of the latter. Beerschot accepted the forfeit score (5-0) against him.
The question now is what will happen to the meeting the next day, in Westerlo. The mayor of the city, Guy Van Hirtumis ready to welcome Antwerp supporters to the Kuipje stadium.
“As things stand, there is no reason to say that we are going to prohibit access to visiting fans,” Van Hirtum told Newspaper. “Based on the risk analysis that I have already seen, I will not ban Beerschot supporters.”
“We are not going to punish the supporters by leaving the entire visitors’ stand empty. The hotheads can of course stay at home. But all other Beerschot supporters are welcome. I am convinced that they will not betray our trust. ”
