The various incidents which punctuated the 2 semi-finals of the Swiss Cup last weekend have consequences for Servette, Winterthur, Sion and Lugano. The ASF imposed fines on the 4 clubs.
Servette, who will face Lugano in the final on June 2 at Wankdorf, was fined 40,000 francs as well as a suspended sector closure (2 years) for a home Cup match. At issue: the behavior of some supporters after the match. The ASF further indicated that troublemakers risk criminal and civil proceedings.
Winterthur, beaten 1-0 on Sunday by the Garnet, for his part, received a fine of 5,000 francs due to the behavior of some of his supporters. Security inside the Schützenwiese was also singled out.
VAR: request from FC Sion rejected
Furthermore, FC Sion’s request to replay the Cup semi-final against Lugano was completely rejected by the Control and Disciplinary Commission. Non-use of the VAR during this match is based on the Cup regulations in force. According to the ASF, “there is therefore no violation of the regulations or unequal treatment”as the Valais club suggested.
The ASF control and disciplinary committee also imposed a 4-match suspension and a fine of 400 francs on the sports director of Sion, Barthélémy Constantin, for insulting the referee at the end of the match.
Finally, Sion and Lugano will have to pay a fine of 1,500 francs, for the Valais club, and 4,300 francs, for the Ticino finalist, due to the use of pyrotechnic devices by some of their supporters.
The case of Christian Constantinewho sharply criticized the referee following his club’s 2-0 defeat, is still under study, concludes the ASF.
