A weigh-in at 1.5 million dollars and two positive doping tests, Ryan Garcia’s victory over Devin Haney will cost the sulphurous American boxer a little more than expected. According to information from ESPN, Garcia tested positive for ostarine, an anabolic agent, on the morning of April 19 and 20, the day of his victorious fight in New York in the super-lightweight category but without a WBC title at stake.
The American channel claims to have had access to a letter from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (Vada), an independent organization in charge of anti-doping controls in the martial arts community, presenting the details of the controls.
“Damn fake news, don’t believe these assholes”, exploded the 25-year-old boxer during a speech on his X account, followed by a series of insulting publications. “ What can I say ? Why didn’t they tell me this before the fight since I was tested before (…). I’ve never taken steroids in my life, I wouldn’t even know where to get them.”he defended himself.
“I shouldn’t have taken that.”he wrote in a post featuring a photo of a box of dietary supplements, suggesting that his positive test could be due to this.
