Dortmund has taken a small option on a possible participation in the Champions League final. At home, Borussia beat PSG 1-0 in the semi-final first leg.
The advantage is small, but it exists. In front of their home crowd, the Germans scored the only goal of the match through Niclas Füllkrug, who also really annoyed the Parisian defense. In true bomber spirit, the 31-year-old German struck in the 36th minute. On a superb opening from Nico Schlotterbeck, the former Werder striker perfectly controlled the deep pass before beating Donnarumma. The Italian goalkeeper made up for it just before the break by preventing the 2-0 on a rebound from Sabitzer.
At the start of the second period, it was Gregor Kobel that we saw. And who was lucky. The Zurich goalkeeper was saved twice by his posts in the 51st minute. It was first of all his left post which repelled a magnificent curling shot from Kylian Mbappé. Then in the sequence, it was his right post which deprived Achraf Hakimi of the equalizer.
Dortmund did not go far from 2-0 in the second half with two big chances for Füllkrug (60th and 66th), but the scorer mistimed his shots. Paris still had a few chances, but Luis Enrique’s offensive players lacked precision, like this shot from Ousmane Dembélé in the 80th which went just over the crossbar.
The two teams will meet again on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes for the return match.
