In the “Lundh” podcast, the former Bordeaux goalkeeper, Karl-Johan Johnsoncurrently in Strasbourg, returned to his departure from Gironde overnight, following the loss of professional status and therefore the termination of players' contracts.
“We always thought everything would work out in the end. But it didn't work. Then the termination of the contracts was a bit sudden and 'funny'. We had to pack up our things and return home to Sweden after a short vacation. We then waited and received many offers. But we thought Strasbourg sounded very interesting and fun to try. Something from a little bit at the other end of France too.”
The Swedish international assures him, he was not worried about finding a new challenge, even at 34 years old.
“I wasn’t stressed. For my part, I knew we would find a club sooner or later. In any case, I had played and achieved good things in Bordeaux. So I said to myself that we would have to wait and see to find something good on a football level. But also for the family.”
On the other hand, he obviously feels more stability in Alsace than in Gironde, at club level.
“We feel that it is a club in balance. In that sense, it’s a safer environment. We felt it straight away when we arrived here compared to Bordeaux.”
