Homes without electricity throughout the department, monster traffic jams in Nantes, the Saint-Nazaire bridge cut off from traffic: Thursday November 21, 2024, Caetano hit hard. And the scars of the storm have not completely healed, particularly in the Nantes vineyards.
The farm Les Jardins de la Sanguèze, just outside Mouzillon, is calling for funding to heal its scars. A collection was initiated by the former operator of the premises, Thierry Priou, supported by Amaury Bourget, who manages the organic laying hen workshop on site. “Mouzill’oeuf”. Elle
is available online and named Let’s help the Jardins de la Sanguèze rebuild.”
This collection was estimated on the Ulule platform, at the time of writing these lines, at around €4,000 thanks to 93 contributions.
Around thirty cultivated varieties
It was in 2021 that Vanessa Strouble took over the market gardening part of the premises. Today supported by her husband François, her permanent employee Flavien and her apprentice since September Stanislas, she devotes 2.5 hours of land to market gardening, on a site covering 4 ha. She produces around thirty different varieties there, all in organic farming and in a short supply chain.
The Jardins de la Sanguèze provide, explains Amaury Bourget, the Amap in Aigrefeuille and one in Nantes, restaurants and school canteens within a 10 km radius around the farm as well as residents of the area.
The farm opens its doors to anyone who wishes to purchase organic products every Friday at the end of the day.
“It is important to act”
The storm affected 1,600 m² of greenhouse which, after having resisted for 3 hours, literally collapsed under ultra-violent gusts
explains in the call for help on Ulule the former operator of the farm Thierry Priou. It is for those who work in this place, for the ecosystem, for the supply of organic products in the territory that it is important to act
he adds. The damage and the investment necessary for reconstruction are estimated at €50,000.
