A building in Angoulême, in Charente, was evacuated this Saturday, January 4, 2025. It all started with the lighting of a charcoal barbecue in the middle of an apartment.
The idea is preposterous to say the least. The occupants of an apartment located at 2, rue de Gergovie, in Angoulême, in Charente, decided to light a charcoal barbecue in the middle of their accommodation, reports Free Charente.
Building evacuated
The firefighters arrived on site around 11 p.m., this Saturday, January 4, 2025, initially for a 5-year-old child in respiratory distress.
On site, they realized that it was carbon monoxide poisoning and that several people were affected. The four-story building was then evacuated.
Absolute emergency
A 5-year-old child, a 26-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man were transported in absolute emergency to the Angoulême hospital center. Two other people, an adult and a child, were also transported in relative emergency, according to Free Charente.
Everyone returned to the apartment on Sunday January 5, 2025. Not far from the building affected by the evacuation, a mother, interviewed by our colleagues, was surprised “that we can have a barbecue inside with children, that’s nonsense”.
