ASSE changed coaches in the middle of December. Eirik Horneland arrived in Forez after the departure of Olivier Dall'Oglio. The Norwegian coach had just left his club SK Brann and will have his first experience abroad. He does not come alone to Forez since he comes accompanied by 2 deputies.
Eirik Horneland led the ASSE resumption session this Sunday. The Greens will have 6 days to prepare for the arrival of Reims in the Cauldron.
Hassan El-Fakiri a known face in Ligue 1
Hassan El-Fakiri is Eirik Horneland's new assistant coach at ASSE. The Moroccan has a perfect command of French, a significant asset for the Norwegian. He also played for AS Monaco during his professional career.
At the end of his playing career, Hassan El-Fakiri turned to the profession of assistant coach. He started at SK Brann alongside Rikard Norling between 2013 and 2014, before joining Os Turn, where he joined the first team staff. Since 2022 he has returned to SK Brann, where he collaborates with Eirik Horneland. Together, they form a successful duo which allowed the club to win two Norwegian vice-champion titles.
2 new faces in the ASSE staff
If the arrival of Hassan El-Fakiri was no longer a secret to anyone. Another person will come and strengthen the Saint-Etienne staff.
The ASSE press release: “Eirik Horneland led his first training session at the head of the Saint-Etienne men's professional team this Sunday. In addition to the technical team already in place, and as previously announced, Eirik was supported by assistant coach Hassan El-Fakiri (47 years old).
Alongside Hassan, Italian Andrea Loberto (50) also joined AS Saint-Étienne. Based in Norway for several years, this Milan native has held numerous positions on the bench of several clubs: responsible for youth teams, assisting at FK Haugesund, Aalesunds FK and SK Brann in 2021, where he worked alongside of Eirik for six months. Assistant to Bjørn Helge Riise at Stabæk Fotball since 2023, Andrea leaves Norway to join Eirik in Forez as assistant coach of the men's professional team. He will notably be in charge of all stopped phases of play.”
