PSG: RMC calls Luis Enrique a liar

Luis Enrique responded to criticism as he knows so well before PSG’s trip to Monaco, explaining in particular that he was having the best season of his career. A lie according to RMC.

Coaches are often debated at Saint-Germain and Luis Enrique is no exception to this observation. On the contrary, the former Spain coach is very divisive, as much because of his communication as for his sometimes surprising choices in his team compositions. Despite the criticism against him, the PSG coach is having the best season of his career according to him, as he explained at a press conference before his team’s trip to Monaco. “Even if you criticize, that there are lies made up, this is my best season as a coach as far as the numbers are concerned. On the opportunities generated, the opportunities suffered… However, I have had seasons with great success” launched Luis Enrique, who therefore does not understand the criticism towards him.

This sentence from the PSG coach, however, surprised RMC, who looked at the statistics to verify Luis Enrique’s punchline. And for the radio, the observation is clear, the former coach of FC Barcelona told a nice lie. “Among the selected statistics, that of 18.8 shots per match on average for PSG 2024-2025 is the only one for the moment which surpasses Barça’s old figures (between 16.0 and 16.3)” explains in particular the radio, which indicates that on possession of the ball, expected goals, expected goals suffered or even efficiency in the two surfaces, the statistics are not favorable to PSG 2024-2025 compared to the seasons of Luis Enrique at FC Barcelona.

It is therefore factually false to say that the Spanish coach is having the best season of his career at the moment. But there is still time to evolve, especially if Luis Enrique were to win a historic Ligue 1 – Champions League double next May. A sweet dream for PSG supporters, who already want to see their team qualify for the play-offs before believing in a miracle.
