In France, the question of TV rights remains a sensitive subject. If many were worried about the behavior of beiN Sports, the media finally settled its second installment.
A few months ago, after endless negotiations, DAZN and beiN Sports regained the rights to Ligue 1. The first media cited is still far from unanimous, particularly in view of the offers proposed. Concerning beiN Sports, the concern lies squarely in the fact that the Qatari media had not paid all its debts to the Professional Football League. beiN Sports, not satisfied with the details of the agreement, notably wanted to renegotiate the contract. In order to put pressure on the LFP, the group took its time to pay the different installments.

But after a first payment made on October 25, beiN Sports has just paid a second installment if we are to believe the information from The Team. A payment of 15.7 million euros which arrives a month late but which reassures the LFP. Despite everything, the standoff does not seem completely over. As a reminder, certain elite clubs, such as OL, are still contesting the agreement which was reached between beiN Sports and the League, and which includes advertising for Qatar, particularly in Ligue 1 stadiums. In any case, this regulation will have the merit of giving everyone a little breather. beiN Sports will broadcast a Ligue 1 poster until 2029, acquired for 98.5 million euros per year (78.5 million euros in rights + 20 million in sponsorship). Note that, still according to L'Equipe, the media ardently wishes to win the right to co-broadcast its match with another paying channel, with the aim of reducing its license fee or « provide a service to its partner Canal+ ».
