Disappointed not to have capitalized on a successful first period with three points at the final whistle, Bruno Genesio analyzes this double face of LOSC against OL (1-1) and its accounting consequences.
Bruno, how do you explain the two faces of your team?
“After matches, it’s always difficult to learn lessons straight away. In any case, I congratulated my players because we gave the maximum with the means at the moment. This remains an interesting point. We can have regrets saying that we could have taken the three points and come back to second. We can also say that we are taking back a point in Monaco, while waiting to see what the others will do. Given the strengths of the moment, against a very good team, this remains a point that could count. In our state of mind, we were exemplary.
Could the fatigue accumulated in recent weeks have played a role in the second period? And when is it Thomas Meunier?
We can always ask ourselves the question about fatigue. Why did we go back so much, why did we have more difficulty getting the ball out under pressure? There are surely several explanations. We will have to rewatch the match, discuss with the players to see how they perceived things. Once again, we played a very good team. It's also the adversary, we don't always do what we want to do. We had a lot of intensity in the first half, we didn't manage to maintain that throughout the match. When you look at the statistics, there are two completely distinct halves. This is only logical. For Thomas (Meunier), it’s adductor pain. We will wait for exams to find out more. It's already very complicated for Tuesday.
What did you think of the Mukau-André tandem?
The idea of starting Gala was to have a player capable of exerting high and aggressive pressure. Ayyoub (Bouaddi) also had a small calf problem. Gala paid for the fact that he returned from injury in the second half. I was generally happy with the midfield in the first half. We also caused a lot of problems on the sides. I am thinking of the left side with Osame (Sahraoui) and Gabi (Gabriel Gudmundsson). Once again, in the high moments, you have to know how to make things happen, to drive the point home. We didn't do it in the first and we paid dearly for it in the second. »
