As the meeting between ASSE and approaches, a new face was seen at the Greens’ training this Wednesday. While the Saint-Etienne club is gradually recovering its internationals, Kenzo Kies, midfielder for the reserve team, joined the professional group for the first time this week This young 18-year-old player, born in 2005, is taking advantage of the international break and the absences in the squad to find a temporary place alongside the professionals.

Kenzo Kies’ first steps with the pros!

Recruited from Saint-Priest, Kenzo has had an excellent start to the season with the ASSE reserve team, under the direction of Razik Nedder. Starting in the derby, he played a crucial role in the victory, which attracted the attention of the first team staff. His repositioning as a midfielder seems to be a turning point in his career, allowing him to make the most of his volume of play and his activity on the pitch. Although used more as a winger or piston in the past, this new role has allowed him to take an important step forward this season.

Kenzo Kies, who is coming to the end of his trainee contract at the end of this season, now has the opportunity to convince the club to offer him a first professional contract. After completing his aspiring contract in July 2023, he begins his second year as a professional trainee. However, competition within the squad, particularly in midfield, could complicate his definitive integration. With Thomas Monconduit absent, it remains to be seen whether Kenzo will be selected for the group this weekend against Lens.

In any case, his progress under the colors of ASSE is closely monitored, and he should logically be part of the group which will face Chassieu-Décines with the reserve team this weekend. For Kenzo Kies, every opportunity with the first team is a chance to get closer to obtaining a professional contract and continuing his career in Forez.
