Pierre-Antoine “I couldn’t miss it.”

To celebrate this “ Europe Tour”, we invite you to discover Brest residents exiled in Europe. Despite their distance, they all closely follow the European exploits of the Ty-Zefs. For this first part, discover Pierre-Antoine, a pure Conquétois exiled in Salzburg for 2 years. This evening, he will obviously be in the visitors’ sector to support Eric Roy’s men. Here we go for this first episode!

Pierre-Antoine, first of all, can you introduce yourself?

I am 30 years old, I am from Conquet. I have lived in Salzburg for 2 years, but I have been in Austria for 6 years. In life, I am a motorcycle designer. So I’m in Salzburg for professional reasons!

How did you end up moving to Austria?

At the time, I was looking for work. So I went to the motorcycle show in Milan where I came across an Austrian company who offered me a job. It wasn’t originally based in Salzburg, but I have since moved there.

We imagine that leaving must not have been easy…

Of course not! But it was for a good cause. I couldn’t find work in and even less in Brittany. The world of motorcycle design is quite complicated, there aren’t a lot of positions. When I had this opportunity in Austria I didn’t think twice and went for it.

Coming back to Stade Brestois, what was the first match you saw at the stadium?

It was in 2009-2010, an EAG-Stade Brestois 29 at the Roudourou stadium, you can’t make this up! Unfortunately, it was 0-0. But I consoled myself with the climb at the end of the season.

Since you have been in Austria, have you always followed the results of Stade Brestois?

Yes, even if it’s complicated sometimes with my life here in Austria. But with last season, which was exceptional, there was obviously special attention. When the club qualified for the Champions League, there was the same fervor as during the promotion in 2010.

When you saw that Stade Brestois were playing in Salzburg, what was your reaction?

I didn’t hesitate and took my seats. It was an opportunity for me to go see the club, I couldn’t miss it.

Will you be in the visitors’ sector for this match?

Of course ! I will be there with two of my friends who are traveling from Brest. I even managed to convince some of my Austrian friends. In total, there will be 6 of us in the visitors sector, including an Irish colleague and another Bulgarian. This is not trivial!

Besides, how is life in Salzburg?

It’s a very beautiful city. In terms of inhabitants we are close to Brest, but in terms of surface area, it resembles . It’s a city on a human scale, and for a Conquétois it’s not too big! Life here is very pleasant, there is a certain comfort. There is everything you need for summer and winter sports, Munich and Vienna are not too far away. Brest supporters will be well received there!

Have you ever had the opportunity to go see an FC Salzburg match?

No, it will be a big first for me too after 2 years in this city. But I certainly wouldn’t have thought that my first match in this stadium was going to be Salzburg-Brest. It’s great, especially since for me and for Stade Brestois, it will be a great first night.

When you saw the draw you immediately checked this date, right?

Exactly ! I didn’t hesitate for a single second, I immediately said to myself “I have to go”! It’s a match between my 2 “at home”, it was obligatory that I go.

Finally, what scenario do you see for this match?

It’s complicated, but I think a 2-1 victory, like against Sturm Graz, is possible. It would be a magnificent performance given that Salzburg are a team with a large budget, but also accustomed to the Champions League. But I am positive and I hope for a victory for Stade Brestois! In any case, I can say that I was there for the club’s first away match in the Champions League.
